AOR

The Affidavit of Relationship (AOR) program allows refugees who have come to the US to request that their family members join them here.

Application Form: Word doc

This program reopened on October 15, 2012 after a 4 year hiatus. The program was closed in 2008 because of a high level of fraud. They have now developed new procedures including DNA testing to reduce fraud.

If you are a current or former refugee or asylee who has been living in the US for over 5 years, you have until April 15, 2012 to file an AOR. Otherwise, any refugee can file an AOR as long as they have not been here for more than 5 years.

Besides for allowances in special circumstances, family relationships that are recognized for the AOR program are husbands and wives, unmarried children under 21, and parents. Contact LFS to ask about relationships other than these.

If you have questions about the AOR program, please contact Carlos at LFS: (303) 225-0193
