Bemotsae

This piyut is well known in Eastern Sephardi communities, but less known in Western communities, as it does not appear in most Western Sephardi prayer books.

The melody below is traditional to the Jewish community of Calcutta, who hail originally from Baghdad and Aleppo.

To my surprise and delight, I recently discovered this lovely melody in "Sephardi Melodies", a book of sheet music published by de Sola in 1857, so although it seems to have been forgotten, it clearly was sung in London 150 years ago.
