En Kelohenu

אין כאלהינו

En Kelohenu is a bit of a mystery in the sense that it was obviously written to be sung but in most communities is intoned drily or with sombre reverence at the end of the daily service! To me this is obviously a mistake. The S&P do sing it on Shabbat (though they too intone it drily on weekdays), and some Ashkenazi communities have learned from them and also started doing so.

The S&P have many melodies for it, and all of these (except perhaps the most theatrical one, of which more later) are perfectly suited for the Shabbat table, where En Kelohenu (like Bendigamos, Tsur Mishelo, and Shir Hama'alot) is often the last pizmon to be sung before Grace after Meals.

Note: I spell it "En" and not "Ein" because in correct Sephardi pronunciation all vowels are pure vowels and not diphthongs.
