How to remove a virus from your computer

Steps to remove tough viruses:

I recommend booting into safemode. As soon as you turn your computer on, begin pressing F8 once every second and then choose SAFEMODE WITH NETWORKING.

1. Download Rogue Killer and do a SCAN and then DELETE what it finds:

2. Download Avira Free and then run a full scan:

If your files are hidden you will need The Unhider:

If you have Windows 7*

If for some reason you cannot download these files, go to another computer and download them to a flash drive first, then insert it into the infected computer.

*If you have Vista or Windows XP, download the appropriate EXE fix at the bottom of the page instead of the Win7Exe Fix.

If you are still able to view this website on your infected computer you should run Combofix.

If your computer is still infected, call helpdesk or use your system restore disks to restore to factory settings.

NOTE: If you restore your system, you may lose all information on your computer that you have saved. Backup your system before restoring.

How to unlock hosts file:

cacls C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts /E /G Administrators:F

cacls C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts /E /G "Your User Name":F
