Trip Dates: May 8-11, 2010

Who: Axel, Steve, MartinB, Jym, Chuck, Isobel, MartinD, Harold

Transportation (Ranger advises 4WD):

Vehicle_1, Steve SUV (total 3 people) pick up Hearld 7:30, Jym 8:00.

Vehicle_2, Axel wagon (total 3 people) pick up Chuck/Isobel 8:00.

Vehicle_3, MartinB Breadbox (total 2 people) pick up MartinD 8:00.

Note: MartinB may decide to stay an extra day. In that case, 1 or more backpacks can be left in the Breadbox to be picked up later. Then 4 people can return to the Bay Area in vehicle_1.

Driving schedule: Lv Bay Area by 8:30 am. No car train. Meet in Hopland for lunch. Keep cells on.

Route: 1st nite at Rock Cabin nr spring; 2nd nite Morrison Camp (or Brown Camp nr spring?); 3rd nite Henthorn L.

2 River crossings: wading shoes highly recommended

Expect cold weather at night: bring appropriate clothing

Cooking (dinners only):

Steve nite 1 (base camp): Cocido "madrilleno"

2-Burner stove+fuel for base camp: MartinB Breadbox stove

Lamp+fuel for base camp: MartinB

Jym/Axel 1 night: Chicken Tikka Masala (by JYOTi) over cous cous.

Chuck/Isobel 1 night: menu to be announced

Cooking equipment:

Dragon Fly stove with 3/4-full fuel bottle (need 2): stove_1-Jym; stove_2-MartinB

4-qt pot with lid (need 2): pot_1-Jym; pot_2-Steve

2or3-qt pot with lid (suggest 2): pot_1-Steve; pot_2-Jym

pot gripper (suggest 2): 1-Jym; 2-MartinB

Pump (need 2): pump_1-Steve; pump_2-Axel

Coffee, cone and filters: MartinD and MartinB

As usual, each individual responsible for his/her own breakfasts (except coffee) and lunches. No stoves for lunch. Everyone bring their own choice of pre-dinner munchies and heart medicine to share.

Topo and Profiles (originally provided by Axel) in file cabinet below: the profiles were created when we were planning to hike downhill a couple hours the first day. Now we will stay at the trail head (Rock Cabin) the first night, then skip the downhill and start Day 2 at 4200' (see revised profile for Day 2).
