Imperial tradition demanded that a great conquest be followed by an equally great building project, and upon completion of the third and final Nemesian War Emperor Fionn VII commissioned the vastest project in known history- the creation of Great Sphere of Exodus Major.

Around a yellow star the empire’s drones constructed a massive Dyson Sphere, allowing the system to take full advantage of the power of the small yellow star. Upon completion of the project subjects throughout the empire were drawn to the novelty and lush sunlight greenery of the universe’s ultimate greenhouse.

Upon the withdrawal of the Empire the system fell into the control of an already existent mystery cult - believing that the technology of the empire was the path into darkness, they shunned the old ways and went back to a simple, agrarian based existence with a hierarchy of priests to keep the people on the straight and narrow path. All media must be vetted by a council of priests before seeing mass distribution, and technological illiteracy is not only standard but strictly enforced.

Of course, someone has to keep track of all of this evil knowledge (even the best Dyson Sphere needs basic maintenance) so a caste of monk-like scholars known as Archivists were created to take upon this unwelcome burden. Although an Archivist may never see the Green Paradise after death, they are at least assured that through their corruption their families are assured this honor in their stead.

It is assumed that in all of the piles of papers and holo-spheres, magneto-optical disks and photo-micrographs of the Archivists some forgotten and potentially valuable information is hidden- but if it is, they certainly aren’t telling.
