4 General Discrete Finite RV's
General Discrete Finite Random Variables take a finite set of outcomes 1,2,...,N, with probabilities p1, ..., pN. These probabilities must be non-negative and must sum to 1. EXCEL provides a random number generator to produce such random variables. We show how these variables are generated and what they look like
S1: EXCEL -- generation of discrete finite RV's using Data Analysis tools.
S2: Multinomial Distribution. Counts of occurence of different outcomes are multinomial
S3: Exercises on Multinomial Distribution; to get concrete understanding
S4: Simulations: Generate Discrete Finite RV's and match observed proportions to theoretical properties and also to Multinomial Predictions.
S5: Chebyshev:Establish that observed proportions do not deviate too much from theoretical probabilities.
