L7 Transition: Multivariate

The above six lectures constitute a fairly thorough course in elementary univariate probability theory. The MULTIVARIATE theory will be developed separately in the third part of this course. Mastering the concepts in the above six lectures provides a fairly solid foundation in the operational aspects of theoretical probability -- By operational, I mean those things which are useful in practical applications of probability and statistics. Our core concern is to teach students how to drive, and not how the car engine is constructed. It is according to this idea that we have chosen the topics, and more importantly, excluded a large number of topics not relevant to operational aspects. This course is designed for the econometrics students. The economics students can be given a somewhat more operational course, which omits some of the more technical stuff. However, those who can handle it would be well advises to cover the material in this course.
