Located on the east side of the previously talked about hollow, near the top of the ridge is a rock that may be only known to locals as “Devils Seat”. Not much information is currently known about it other than it has holes drilled in it (as seen below) for blasting caps to crack the rock so it could be quarried for the construction of the bridge abutments below. However, workers only succeeded in a small amount of this rock as some of the blasting caps were duds and did not fire and were left in these holes as time capsules. As the pictures show below, some success was made and from these efforts, a large seat has been cut out of the rock. How it got its name is not clear, but a good guess is that it was a "devil" of a rock to quarry. And what was left looked like a seat. Giving the name “Devils Seat”
