Hunter Cemetery
Also known as the "Bostick Cemetery" to some, the original name of the cemetery is known as the "Hunter Cemetery". The name although with no written proof most likely comes from the Hunter Family that lived in the old Anderson Mansion also known as "The Oaks" just several yards away from the family cemetery. Very little is known about the cemetery, it has no deed and is abbandoned on land owned by RBS today. The oldest known confirmed grave to date is of Mary McCarty who died at 2 Years 17 days old in 1825, dating the Cemetery to be at least 196 Years old. In the book "Southern Home in War Times" by Rose Harlow Warren taken place in the 1860's and 70's the cemetery is lightly mention a couple times. On page 77 of her book she states "...the Confederates has in retreat fired the bridge to cut off the pursuit of the enemy, and fortified the steep graveyard hill back of the "Oaks," while the Federals had taken possession of Goat Hill, across the river." Confirming that this is the same cermetery today.
