Industries of North Caldwell

Milepost 2.82 (West Switch). Two sidings to serve the asphalt plant of the Interstate Amiesite Company (Now owned by Anderson Paving Inc. ) were installed in the summer of 1948. Located on the south side of the main track, one was 957 foot siding connected on both ends. The second was a 340 foot stub siding switching from the first siding and between it and the main track. It was connected on the west end and removed in July 1976.

Milepost 2.90 (switch). A siding about 200 feet long was located here.  It was on the south side of the main track and connected on the west end. This station was first on the station list for April 1902 and was not listed in July 1912. The siding was gone by 1916; probably removed in early 1912. The name change to Brick Yard was made on the April 1906 station list and come from the Greenbrier Brick Company’s plant at this location.

From this photograph we can see three different industies, top left hand side we have RBS Inc. Small building in the middle of the photo just right of the side track is Campbell Hardware Freight Station. In this same location was the Seyler Lumber Company.  Lastly  and most obviously on the right hand side is Superior Supply Company in its original location. Date: Nov 1965

Betty's kitchen opened in ____ and was closed in ____ . It was soon reopened under the name "Sam and Kittys". After some years of service, it tragically caught fire and was destroyed. It sat vacant for some time and was bought and restored by Top Hat Chimney Company.
