I Try To Make My Investment Count Not Only For Me

I can invest in weapons, in oil and other things that damage society and the environment and gain a lot of money. I did NOT go for these options. I chose to invest as society friendly as possible and still gain profit with my investments. I will share the investments I did in this post. Not the amount, just in what I invested money.

Investing In A Good Idea

Through the crowdfunding platform CrowdAboutNow, I can invest in the ideas and dreams of small business owners. I choose ideas that yield a product I want to use myself, and ideas that appeal to me. I've invested in Groei van Boei, Soep-er, Blue Bananas Pancake Café, Coffeelab, Oogst - de nieuwe boerenwinkel, Bloem eten & drinken, and VAAT. They all still exist as of early 2026. Some have already repaid the borrowed amount and interest. I've ordered products from them or visited them, with the exception of two of the businesses mentioned.

Another Crowdfunding Platform To Invest In Ideas & Dreams Of Small Business Owners

CrowdAboutNow isn't the only platform I can invest in small business owners. There is also Collin Crowdfund. This platform differs from CrowdABoutNow in how the small business owners present themselves. Collin Crowdfund is a bit more about the money the small business owners need and the interest the crowd can get. For both platforms the small business owners have to make a business plan, present their plans, make clear they are reliable enough to pay back the amount borrowed with interest and still be in business during and after the loan is repaid. I didn’t visit any of the business I invested in through Collin Crowdfund. 

Investing In Electric Driving Instead Of Oil

I no longer have a driver's license, but I still believe that driving should be powered by something other than oil. There are alternatives to oil: solar, hydrogen, and electricity. I've chosen to invest in electric driving through Fastned. Fastned started with charging stations for passenger cars but is now expanding to trucks and buses. This means the products I buy can be transported in an environmentally friendly way. And public transport is becoming more environmentally friendly every day.

Impactful Investing Abroad

In the past, I invested in small businesses and projects abroad through the LendAHand crowdfunding platform. However, when it became possible to invest directly in the LendAHand platform, I did this through the Seedrs crowdfunding platform. Instead of investing in the projects and small international businesses on the LendAHand platform I invested in LendAHand.

Bernhoven

Although I don't enjoy going to the doctor or hospital, I invested in Bernhoven Hospital just before the COVID-19 outbreak. It's a social investment with interest. I don't have a say in their plans, but I do gain insight into their patient care activities, and I receive interest. I did this through the platform Anders Financieren (Geld Voor Elkaar).

Investing In Agricultural Land

I want the food I eat to be produced locally and with care for the plants and animals. That's why I've invested in Lenteland and the Erve Kiekebos farm. It's a corporation with a few farms with farmland and is still in its start-up phase. Lenteland isn't yet established in my region, but when I visit one of the farms, I buy their product.

BrightPensioen

As an entrepreneur, I don't build up a pension like employees do. Therefore, I had to build my pension differently. That's why I chose the BrightPensioen platform and also invested in the platform itself.

SharePeople As My AOV

As an entrepreneur with a medical history dating back to 2010, I can't take out standard disability insurance because it's too expensive and they think I'm a significant risk to them. I've been an entrepreneur since 2012 and have never been sick during my entrepreneur years (early 2026), nor before 2010. With SharePeople, I can take out disability insurance, and I've also invested in the platform itself as additional disability insurance or for a 'Tussenpensioen'.
