I share the 5 lessons I learned from the book 'Blondjes beleggen beter' (Blondes invest better). Okay, I'm not blond, but I am a woman, so this title appealed to me. And I'm looking to build wealth. This book came at a good time. The book contains many good tips and explains many terms from the investment world. Definitely a must for a beginner! (UPDATE: Sept 2024: student debt €0 euro).
I can invest in:
My own company
Antique
Art
Classic cars
Vacation home
Cryptocurrency
On the stock exchange: Stocks, bonds and other securities
This book is about investing on the stock market. I have been investing in crowdfunding since 2013. I get very little return in Europe with savings. With that in mind I need to make the next step, investing on the stock market. The book discusses the different ways of investing on the stock market.
The book mentions a number of 'games' with which I can practice investing on the stock market. A good step as a first time investor is to invest with fictitious money. Note that the games are mainly about short-term profit, while in practice investing in investments is about long-term profit.
I will continue to save to have a buffer for unexpected events. I am thinking of having constant income in my savings account for 12 months. If I use it I will refill it immediately. Furthermore, I have now set up investing in crowdfunding nicely and I am earning from it. I will continue to do that. Now it's time to start investing in other things besides Databeet, Myself, bonds and Crowdfunding. This means I want more diversification in my investings. For example, I let Brightpensioen invest for me (I used this for my Tussenpensioen, 2021/2022) and I will invest myself via Degiro and ABNAMRO. I will look for the diversification in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. So a mix of these.
For years I have been making a budget for my company Databeet as well as for my private life with which I map my finances. I also set goals. In the book, the author gives the tip to set both 5-year goals and 5–10-year goals, because I have to take this into account when I make my choice in what I invest. I can set for how much money I want to buy a certain share and then the system will automatically execute this assignment for me when that price has been reached. It is also useful to set a limit on which I want to sell. And a very important tip is to check my order before sending it, so that I don't buy too much/too little or weird things.
