Tufts Eyemed is different then all the other Eyemed plans and can be tricky. The reason is eyemed is a vision only plan, meaning patients cannot use it for medical eye exams (red eyes, floaters, trauma, etc.). Tufts eyemed can be used for both routine vision and medical exams. It is the only exception.
When getting Authorization for Tufts eyemed, you will see each patient is listed twice on the list. Make sure you are choosing the "routine services" choice for the authorization.
For all other eyemeds, if you cannot find patient in the eyemed system or they are not eligible, then they will need to use their medical insurance or they will be a self pay. If they believe they have eyemed and you cannot find them, they will have to pay for the exam, and we will refund them once they work it out with their HR department at work.
