Goods and Fuel

Supplies

The supplies you purchase to keep your FBO operational are listed in your, or your group's, Goods menu. They will be consumed daily by the FSE system, at your FBO's particular daily consumption rate. However, you can also configure your FBO to buy supplies from other players, sell supplies to other players, "box them up" into an assignment to be moved to another airport, or simply transfer some/all to other FSE players. See the "trading" section at the bottom of this page for more information on buying and selling supplies from your FBO.

Fuel Terms and Concepts

Retail Fuel

Retail fuel (aka: "at the pump") is the 100LL or Jet-A which can be directly pumped into an airplane's fuel tanks. It is available for sale to aircraft owners and renters at many system-operated locations, as well as most player-operated FBO's. Retail fuel cannot be converted into any other form, and is only available for pumping into an airplane's fuel tank.

Bulk Fuel

Bulk fuel comes in two main categories: Wholesale Fuel and Fuel Barrels. Wholesale Fuel is petroleum purchased by FBO operators, and is primarily designed to supply FBO retail pumps from which aircraft can refuel. The FBO operator can also sell this bulk fuel as Fuel Barrels to other players to help supply remote outposts or rescue stranded airplanes. Please see the Fuel Drums section of the manual for more uses of bulk fuel.

Buying Bulk Fuel for an FBO

The following notes apply to bulk fuel purchase for an FBO.

• FBO Operators (including staff members of group-operated FBOs) are the only users allowed to buy bulk fuel directly from the FSEconomy refineries.

• Bulk fuel can be purchased (by FBO operators) at all FBO's, worldwide.

• Bulk fuel has a random shipping delay of up to 3 days from the date/time of ordering.

• Bulk fuel orders are limited to one active order per FBO at a time, or no more than 24 hours since a declined order.

There is an option on the FBO page for ordering fuel.

To order bulk fuel, click on the "Order Bulk Fuel" link. You will be presented with the Bulk Fuel Order screen.

You can order quantities of 100LL and/or Jet-A at the same time if desired. Using the drop down, select the quantity of each fuel type you wish to order. Please read the note carefully for important terms and conditions. Only press "Submit" when you are ready to proceed.

The Bulk Order Confirmation screen is shown, revealing the order's price and expected delivery date listed in Central European Time (*The timezone of the FSE servers)

If you choose to "Confirm" this order, your account will be charged accordingly and the delivery will be scheduled. You cannot place another fuel order from this FBO until your delivery arrives.Your fuel will be delivered during the system maintenance cycle following your delivery schedule date and time.

If you "Decline" this order, you will not be charged and you will be restricted from placing a fuel order from this FBO for 24 hours. (This is done to prevent users from "shopping" for better random delivery dates)

On the "FBO" listings, you should now see that you have an "Order Pending" for that FBO. If you click on the link, an informational page will be displayed.

If you ordered fuel, the quantities will be listed. If you declined the offer, you will see "zeros" for the fuel quantities.

(*Remember CEST is the Central European time zone, where the FSE servers are located.)

Selling Retail Fuel "At The Pump" via FBOs

One of the more useful services an FBO can provide to other players is fuel. Much like the system FBOs which sell fuel and repair services, player-operated FBOs can sell fuel to other pilots as they fly into the airport.

On the Edit FBO page, you can set fuel prices for both 100LL and Jet-A.

In order to sell fuel, you must have the proper goods on-hand and in inventory! Using transfer assignments or making bulk purchases onsite, purchase some 100LL and Jet-A into your inventory and you can begin selling it at the pump.

Note: Fuel for sale must be owned by the same user/group which operates the FBO in order to be sold.

Fuel purchases at the pump will appear in the FBO operator's payment log.

Selling Bulk Fuel "By the Barrel" via FBOs

Enterprising FBO operators are able to supply pilots with bulk fuel Fuel Drums which pilots can use to stock outposts or rescue stranded aircraft from airfields which do not have retail fuel.

Simply follow the directions provided above in the "Buying and Selling Bulk Goods" section of this page to learn how to sell fuel by the barrel and service local pilots and operators in your area.

Trading (Buying and Selling) Bulk Goods via FBOs

All FBO's can be used to buy and sell goods. An FBO operator may wish to "buy" fuel and supplies from other players at their FBO in order to prevent having to perform restocking flights themselves. Setting the "buy" price to something which would provide another player a reasonable profit (along with some forum advertising) could set into motion a nice supply chain.

An FBO operator may also wish to "sell" bulk supplies. By flying in large quantities of goods and setting the sell price slightly higher than the normal market prices, an enterprising FBO operator might become the local supplier for various items.

The FBO operator can set the following parameters in the "Trading" section of the "Edit FBO" page for a given location:

• Buy: Checking this box will tell the FBO to accept these goods.

• Price: This is the price that the FBO will pay for the goods per kg.

• Max: This is the maximum amount that the FBO will keep in stock. Pilots are not allowed to sell goods at the FBO beyond this maximum. '0' means unlimited.

Note: Automatic sales are debited from your cash account, not your bank account. Make sure that you set your buy limits to coincide with available cash.

• Sell: Checking this box will tell the FBO to offer these goods for sale.

• Price: This is the price that the FBO will sell the goods at.

• Retain: This is the minimum amount that the FBO will keep for itself. For example, if you set the retain value of supplies to "100", the FBO will allow a person to buy supplies up to the total amount less 100 Kg. If you do not set a minimum with your supplies, you run the risk of purchases depleting your entire cache of supplies, closing the FBO immediately and without warning.

Note: The parameters you see for 100LL and Jet-A apply to the wholesale fuel barrels only per kilogram. The regular fuel price for retail sales of fuel is set in the fuel price box and is specified in dollars per gallon.
