Goods

Function of Goods

Various purposes exist for goods in FSEconomy:

  • Buy a large quantity with a discount and sell to pilots.

  • Use them to supply an FBO to keep it running.

  • Use them to stock an FBO with fuel to service other pilots.

Types of Goods

FSEconomy currently supports four types of wholesale goods:

  1. Building Materials: These are conveniently packaged materials that can be quickly deployed to an airport. These packages come with everything you need to construct your own FBO - or, add on additional business types to your existing FBO such as a maintenance hangar and a passenger terminal. You just need to buy and deliver to where you want to build.

  2. Supplies: These contain everything you need to keep a business running (office equipment, beverages, heating oil, $100 (virtual) hamburgers, etc).

  3. 100LL Fuel: The stuff that keeps piston engines running. You can buy these fuel drums and transport them to refuel your aircraft, supply your FBO or sell to other buyers. Bulk fuel is available to FBO owners via the FSE refineries, or to individual pilots via player-owned FBOs which choose to sell bulk fuel drums.

  4. Jet-A Fuel: Fuel for jets and turboprop aircrafts. Just like 100LL, you can buy these fuel drums and transport them anywhere. Bulk fuel is available to FBO owners via the FSE refineries, or to individual pilots via player-owned FBOs which choose to sell bulk fuel drums.

Prices of Goods

If an airport provides goods, you will see an overview in the airports screen. The price of Building Materials and Supplies are affected by bulk discounts: If you buy a large supply at once, you'll get a better price. The goods overview at the airport screen will show you the maximum discount possible and the amount you have to buy to get it. If it shows 10% at 40000 kg, you get a total discount of 10% if you buy 40000 kg, and 5% if you buy 20000 kg, etc...

Buying Goods

Individual pilots, FBO owners, and flight groups can buy goods. To buy, simply press a "Buy" link next to the goods you want to buy and enter an amount. The goods are then available to you. The amount and type of items you can buy depends on the FBO. Generally, system-owned FBOs have unlimited good to buy but pilot-owned FBOs may have limited quantities.

Selling Goods

To sell goods, go to goods menu and select goods. This will give you an overview of all the goods you own all over the world. Press a sell link to go to the sell goods page.

The sell goods page will show you an overview of all interested buyers. If one is available with a price you agree on, select it, enter the amount you want to sell and press the sell button.

Note when looking at prices: Buy and sell refers to you, not the FBO. Buy represents how much an item will cost you to buy from the FBO/Air Service Station, while sell is how much an item an FBO is willing to pay for your goods.

Transporting Goods

In order to transport goods, the owner of the goods needs to create a transfer assignment. To create a transfer assignment go to the goods page and press the create transfer assignment link. Next, fill in the destination, the amount and the pay (If you plan on flying the assignment yourself you can leave it at 0 but if you want another pilot to transport, you may want to pay them something). Whatever amount you set here will be deducted from your account once the assignment is complete.

Tip: The smaller the amount of cargo per assignment, the easier it is for people to fit them in an aircraft. If you have 2000 kg of fuel lying around and you create one transfer assignment for 2000 kg, it will probably go nowhere because there aren’t many aircraft that can handle that weight. A better option is to create ten 200 kg assignments. That way, even a Cessna owner can handle part of the shipment but still allows for a DC3 captain to take everything if he/she has room.

Once you've created a transfer assignment, the indicated goods will be subtracted from your stockpile and will be packaged up ready for transport. If you change your mind about the transfer, you can delete the assignment, which will free up the goods again.

Transfer assignments are just like regular assignments and are handled the same. They can be brought into flight groups, flown in multiple legs, flown by multiple pilots, etc. The only difference is that the owner of the goods will pay for the transfer.

A list of active transfer assignments is available from the goods menu of the pilot who created them. This list shows you all pending transfers and the pilot who has selected the assignment. If a pilot has selected the assignment you can unlock it if needed. The assignment will also show up on the regular airport screen.
