Board members are to elected for three year terms at the Annual Meeting by the membership. The election of officers shall take place at the first meeting of the Board of Directors following each annual meeting of the members (Article XI, Section II).
Thank you to our departing board members, Mary Leighton and Grace Olscamp, who have been wonderful members of our Board this past year.
Mary has served on the Board in various capacities over the last two decades. She will continue to host our meetings, for which we are very grateful!
Grace will continue to design our fantastic information postcards that are hand delivered to neighbors and included on our website.
Welcome to our newest board members, Sarah Fox and Cooper Harless!
Sarah enjoys living in the HOA, walks the trails regularly, and would like to contribute to the good of the HOA. Over the years, Sarah has contributed dozens of hours to trail maintenance and always says “yes” when asked if she can help with debris removal projects.
Cooper walks the trails daily with his dog Charlie and recognizes the diligence and care that it takes to maintain the paths, trees, and bridges. He looks forward to contributing as a board member and continuing the stewardship our our common areas.
ARTICLE VII
NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
Section 1. Nomination. Nomination for election to the Board of Directors shall be made by a Nominating Committee. Nominations may also be made from the floor at the annual meeting. The Nominating Committee shall consist of a Chairman, who shall be a member of the Board of Directors, and two or more members of the Association. The Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the Board of Directors prior to each annual meeting of the members, to serve from the close of such annual meeting until the close of the next annual meeting and such appointment shall be announced at each annual meeting. The Nominating Committee shall make as many nominations for election to the Board of Directors as it shall in its discretion determine, but not less than the number of vacancies that are to be filled. Such nominations may be made from among members or non-members.
The board is currently seeking two people who are interested in committing to a 3-year term on the board to fill the two board positions currently expiring in August 2024. It is helpful, but not required, for those interested in joining the board to have participated in EWPA volunteer activities. This provides both context for the new board members and will let them hit the ground running. Potential candidates should be familiar with EWPA's purpose and responsibilities to its members, the bylaws and other legal documents, which can be found here.
Volunteer opportunities include participating in trail work parties, being on call for special debris collection and removal, inspecting the trails for issues throughout the year, joining the Welcome Wagon to welcome new homeowners to the neighborhood, writing short articles for the website, designing graphic materials, delivering postcards to neighbors. If you would like to volunteer, please email edgewoodwestparkassociation@gmail.com.
