Snails!

Along with Shu, Mana, Mayra, Ngoc, and Roberto, I am working in the Geocorner building to examine the various sizes of species and why size matters. We use measuring calipers (as shown in the picture) to measure species from books we borrow at the campus library. I am measuring the sizes of gastropods, or - as we usually call them - snails! We have done various readings that talks about the evolutionary changes in size and how biological and geological factors are affecting these increases. It's fascinating how species can grow so big over periods of time, and we want to find out why an increase in size is such an important tool for survival. The cool thing about geology is that there are so many questions... but some of them may never be answered. But it's fun to try! :)
