Adam gave me a few scientific papers to read (about his research) so I could get a better grasp of the overall theme at the
end of the first day. It turns out that these manuscripts are quite hard to read. A paper that was four pages long took
me about two hours to read. Thankfully, I only had to read of few of these papers, but they were pretty enlightening.
Today was the first lab meeting I went to. It was the first day I could see the whole paleobiology lab group - graduate
students, high school students, undergraduate students, post-docs, and professor. Adam gave a presentation on his project
which had to do with calcium isotopes and the Guadalupian-age extinction. Exciting stuff! Adam told me there was
a calcium isotope reading group every Thursday and that I was free to join him (or do whatever I wanted to). I think
I'll go check it out.
