August 10 - In the End

The last week of this internship was kind of bittersweet, but I enjoyed every moment of it. Last week, the Fendorf lab group threw a potluck for the interns in the lab; it was so nice of them! Everything was delicious, and the interns even got free stuff from the Earth Sciences Department! After the potluck I went to the college admissions presentation, and it was useful to learn about the college application process, and specifically about what it takes to get in to Stanford. Along with all of this, Jessica and I did a lot of lab work, mostly PCR and qPCR in order to test out some new primers we got. Jessica also too me to see all the Rodin sculptures on campus! They were really vivid and detailed, and I'll definitely be going over there again to take some pictures.

This week was my last day in the lab, and our final presentations. I enjoyed the presentations because it was interesting to here what all the other interns had been doing over the summer, especially since their work was so different from mine. I'm really grateful for this opportunity to work at Stanford and, even though it's over, I hope to stay in touch with the other interns and continue working with Jessica throughout the year!
