You will either be assigned a project to do QC for, or another person’s work.
- Each week, pull a few items from the “Awaiting QC” shelves in the Scholar’s Court.
- In the Q drive, check for the following:
- The TIFFs went into their right folder.
- The TIFFs are named correctly.
- The JPEGs went into their right folder.
- The JPEGs are named correctly.
- There are the same number of TIFFs and JPEGs.
- Open up the first JPEG and scroll through them one by one.
- Compare with the original item. Make sure there are no missing or duplicate pages.
- Make sure the cropping is even and that no text is cut off, nor is their extra black space around the edges.
- If there are any problems:
- Note the problems on the bib record printout.
- Tuck the printout back in the book.
- Leave the book on the designated “problems” shelf in the Scholar’s Court.
- If there are no problems:
- Drag the folder of JPEGs into the “scans” subfolder for that project, e.g. Q:\_Production Master JPEGs\MMA Publications\scans.
- Delete the folder of RAW files from Q:\RAWs if applicable.
- Discard the Job Finalization Checklist.
- Write “OK” and your initials on the bib record printout and put the printout in the “Files OK” box in the Scholar’s Court.
- Place the book in the “Returns” bin at the Circulation Desk.
- If the book needs to go to Book Conservation (because there is already a Book Conservation slip in it, because someone wrote so on the bib record, or because you notice any damage), place the book on the “For Book Conservation” shelf in the Scholar’s Court with the bib record printout tucked inside.
