4. Syncing collections with WorldCat
Setup
Log in to CONTENTdm Administrative server
- Server tab > settings
- Enable WorldCat sync for the collection.
Sync via the Digital Collection Gateway
- Log in to the DCG.
- Under “Active Collections,” the collection you’ve just enabled should appear.
- Edit metadata map.
- Copy the "Metropolitan Museum of Art Publications" metadata map to begin.
- More > Update field splitting rules: confirm that all Dublin Core fields (except 'extent' and 'rights') split on [semicolon].
- Scroll through several records, checking the WorldCat item and the MARC views to make sure the splitting and mapping are ok.
- Approve and sync.
- Complete sync (see below)
Re-syncing collections (setup already done; after more content has been added)
Sync via the Digital Collection Gateway
- Log in to the DCG.
- “Active Collections” > select the dated link under "Sync Schedule."
- Click the "Sync with WorldCat now" button.
- Return to the "Reports" tab later in the day and View the report for the newly synced collection.
- Compare the "Records Added" count to your expectations.
- Complete sync (see below)
Complete sync and re-index the collection.
- Return to the CONTENTdm Administrative server
- Server tab > Harvesting > Complete sync > Sync records
- Items tab > select collection from dropdown menu > Index > index now
