Creating a collection: Administrative server
- On the Server tab of the Administrative module, add a collection.
- Create this new collection using the "Metadata Template" template.
- Edit fields under Collection > Fields:
- Administrative fields must be edited for each collection; settings do not copy over. Change the “OCLC Number” field to map to DC-Identifier; searchable; not hidden.
- Add terms to shared vocabularies for these fields, if necessary:
- Repository
- Provider
- Add collection name to "Digital Collection"
Project Client: creating a project (aka collection)
- Start project client and log in
- Select Create New Project and login
- Choose a collection (must already be set up on the server)
- Name it and Share it on a network. Browse to the collection’s folder in the Production directory on the WatScans drive [Q drive].
Project Settings Manager in the CONTENTdm Project Client
- Project > Project Settings Manager > General Settings
- Under Images & Thumbnails:
- File Type: JPEG2000
- Check the "use lossy compression" box.
- Check the "By quality" radio button and change the slider to High.
- Note that for some collections, the "Lossy compression" checkbox is intentionally unchecked.
- Under Processing:
- Check the radio button “Do not convert multiple-page PDFs to compound objects.”
- Change the “PDF print quality” to High.
- Under OCR (if you are working on a PC with a license):
- Add appropriate Recognition Languages based on the current and projected content of the collection. Typically the languages listed should be English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
- Under Find in collection:
- Uncheck the "Display image thumbnails in results" box.
- Click OK.
You are now ready to add items and metadata. Go to the next appropriate section, depending upon your workflow.
