7. Deleting CONTENTdm items

Sometimes you have to take stuff down. Here's how to do it, and some of the issues that may arise.

Log in to the Admin server.

Go to the Items tab > edit, and find or browse to the item you want to delete.

In your results list, do the following (see image below):

• *ESSENTIAL* -- Select the "Delete compound object and its subpages" radio button
• Tick the box next to the item you want to delete.
• Click the "delete" link under Selected operations.

Confirm that you want to delete the item.

Index the collection, which will fix the deletion and take the item offline.

On occasion, remnants of the object are left after deletion and indexing. If this is the case, contact OCLC support and ask them to run a full index rebuild.
