New Year's Eve with Glenn, Jens, Roland, Dean, Cherly, Kevin, Chad, and Joe.

2023 started with a visit by the Possa family to celebrate New Year's Eve. When it was time for them to return to Baton Rouge, we waved farewell when they departed for the airport. Much to their disappointment when they arrived at the airport, they found that the flight had been cancelled and no flights were available for days. They booked rooms at the Four Seasons which is only a couple of blocks away rather than to return to our place. It turned out to be a great choice as the hotel had a kiddie pool and many kid-friendly activities. We were able to enjoy the hotel's pool and restaurant with them

In February we hosted Margaret Tooke and Glenn Morris for the annual Highlands Falls Country Club winter croquet event in West Palm Beach. It is just a quick and fun trip on the Brightline rail.

In March we had a visit by Sarah, Shaun, Sterling, and Soleil. It was a fun visit with lots of lively days with the 2 kids, Soleil a 1-year-old, and Sterling a 2-year-old. We enjoyed the nice Florida weather and as always we were worn out by the time they left.

In April we had a fun visit with Patrick. He has a new job in tech support for a doctor's practice. He is loving it and has enough time to work on his technical certifications.

Scotland - Ireland trip

Our friend Rodney Andreychuk and husband Richard Malone invited us, our friends Cheryl Millar and Kevin Naylor, and a few other friends to join the celebration of Rodney's June birthday in Scotland and Ireland. For the first 4 days, we stayed and the Gleneagles Townhouse, a spectacular hotel.

From Edinburg, we hired 2 vans to take us to Oban for a week's cruise of island hopping on the Hibrides Sea. The boat was a luxuriously conversion of a former car ferry. The islands and views were beautiful.

After the cruise, we spent a few days at the incredible Inverlochy Castle. Then we took a short flight to Belfast Ireland. We were hosted by Cheryl's long-time close friend Rosie and her husband David in Kilkeel.  We enjoyed numerous hikes and the local points of interest. Their 3-floor home provided wonderful spacious accommodations. There could not be more generous and gracious hosts anywhere. It was the highlight of our trip.

From there drove to Cork and checked out the location of some of Dean's ancestors. Then we went to Dublin and caught our flight back to Atlanta.

The rest of the summer was filled with lots of pickleball for Dean, beach walks, our workout routines, a trip to Boston in September to celebrate Soleil's birthday, a Highlands visit from Cheryl and Kevin, a trip to Charleston, MS, to check on Dean's father and stepmother, and back to Boston for Thanksgiving.
