As we get ready to kick off 2012 with another convivial duet-playing meeting at Beth’s, it’s difficult to believe that another year is about to begin, full of promise and mystery just like those before it. If the last few years here at the Cecilian Music Club are any indication, however, there is no doubt that 2012 will pave the way to unexpected opportunities and new ideas that our talented and hard-working members will make into reality. As our traditions continue, they grow and thrive: the Showcase Recital this year was held at the beautiful historic Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, and we are excited to continue working with the Museum in the Spring Showcase. Thank you to Jennifer Bao for her annual contributions to this event! The Young Artist Competition at Alice Tully Hall saw an unprecedented variety in this year’s repertoire, bringing some of the most talented young musicians in our area to the stage. Special thanks to Lillian Livingston, An Li Young, Beth Chen, and Yining Wang for their hard work! We will be accepting applications for the Cecilian Scholarship, which was such a fulfilling experience this past year, in June; please encourage your student to apply! I would like to wish you and yours a fruitful and joyful year ahead, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
