Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I would like to congratulate you and your students on two beautiful and successful Cecilian Award Competition Winner's recitals on May 16th! I was so sorry that I could not be there to see these fantastic performances that the students have been working so hard to prepare – I unfortunately came down this something that I would certainly not have wanted to spread to our talented musicians! – but I can only imagine how enchanting the atmosphere of the historic Wilson Hall Auditorium was, especially with over 70 students performing in the two Gold- and Silver Medal Concerts on Sunday afternoon.
With the number of student performers almost doubled from last year (just over 40 in 2009) and with two concerts instead of just one, we have really achieved new heights this year! I am so proud of this accomplishment, and would like to express my gratitude to all the teachers for your dedication and hard work! Bravo! A few special thanks are also in order: Thank you to Anli Young and Alan Wasserman for helping with the backstage; Anli – thank you so much for stepping in at the last moment to do a lovely Closing! Last but certainly not least: thank you to our wonderful chairperson Beth Chen, who conquered all the little details of preparation for the concerts with the enthusiasm and energy which she always brings to this annual event! Bravo!
Thank you all again for your hard work and congratulations to all participating students on a job well done! I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting or event, and look forward to finally seeing the concert itself in the photos which you will send in!
All the best, Marina
