As we take a moment to relax after the flurry of winter’s holidays, it’s wonderful to think that we can already look forward to another long-standing tradition to warm up the cold January air, for the annual Monster Concert is just around the corner. I am so proud to think of the hard work that all of you contributed last year to put this favorite concert back on its feet, and this second year of this exciting program at Brookdale’s Performing Arts Center is tangible proof that, with perseverance and energy, anything is possible.
And there is much more to look forward to! I am very excited to ring in the New Year with a new and improved Cecilian Scholarship; please encourage your students to apply for this program! Once again, the expanded Cecilian Award Competition will surely bring a beautiful day of Gold and Silver performances. And Cecilian Musical Hours, as well as other get-togethers, will continue to be the moments of shared musicianship and friendship that we look forward to. Thank you to all of you for your dedication, flexibility, and enthusiasm; you keep the old traditions of our Cecilian Music Club alive while letting it grow and progress with new ideas and new life.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and successful 2011,
Marina Strakovsky
