Just last week, the Founder’s Day Luncheon at Beth’s marked an important moment in our Club’s history: we celebrated our 130thBirthday as an organization! It is amazing to think that we have been able to uphold the traditions of our Founders for so many years. I think we have succeeded, not only by continuing the many projects of the original Cecilians, but by always searching for new and modern ways of experiencing and appreciating classical music. It is thanks to the hard work and commitment that all of you have shown that we continue to thrive in a modern world. I would like to take a moment to thank our dedicated officers: Beth S. Chen, Lillian Livingston, Barbara Lerro, Anli Young, Jennifer Bao, Phemie Chien, Therese Whelan, Alan Wasserman, Jon Chappell, George Borisov, and Yining Wang for their time, ideas, and energy. Special thanks also to our veterans, who have seen the Club through thick and thin: Lillian Livingston, Bernice Cooperman, and Beth S. Chen. Your hard work, tireless energy, and enthusiasm are a real inspiration! As we embark upon our 130th year, we will be working hard to bolster the sustainability of our organization through new structures and programs. I hope that you, too, continue to explore the Cecilian legacy of classical music in your lives and endeavors. Let’s let this year open a door to new traditions and ideas, as we remember the past with an eye towards the future! Wishing you all the best, Marina.
