On Sunday, Oct. 27th, The First Meeting and the Membership Tea was dedicated to the Club's Anniversary publication "From the Cradle of Classical Music: Rare Masterpieces of American and Russian Composers From the Classical Era". This beauifully written and illustrated volume contains the history of the Cecilian Music Club from 1883 to the present and publishes some rare Classical pieces. The book's presentation with musical illustration of the pieces were performed by George Borisov and Marina Strakovsky. Many of the pieces from this collection have never been published in the US, and it was exciting and inspiring to hear stories about Cecilian's early years of history. The second part of afternoon was very inspiring as well: it was wonderful to see so many of you performing! We enjoyed piano duets performed by bernice Cooperman, Barbara Lerro, Jennifer Bao, Phemie Chien, Christina Kwok, and Therese Whelan, as well as vocal selection by mezzo-soprano Lisa Frost - Goodall. It truly showed that the Cecilian Club is very much alive, and even today continues the mission that began more than a century ago. Bravo and Encore! http://www.app.com/viewart/20131105/GETPUBLISHED/311050302/Cecilian-Music-Club-Celebrates-130th-Anniversary
