Thinking about the slipping away of this beautiful summer days, I can’t help but think back to my experience in Vienna with the Golden Key Music Festival this July, and would like to take this chance to share a little about it with you. It was a truly unforgettable experience for our students and teachers -- along with colleagues from Austria, China, Israel, Malta, and Portugal -- to perform in the majestic Ehrbar Hall of the Conservatory of Music, the Bösendorfer Saal at the Mozarthaus, as well as in the Haus der Musik. The students not only had an opportunity to perform and attend master classes, but experienced Viennese music and art through tours of museums, historic sites, discussions, and performances of music by Viennese composers. It was a breathtaking experience to attend a recital in the Haydn Hall at Esterhazy, and to walk through the cobblestone streets of medieval Salzburg that still remember the young Mozart’s steps. As we moved through the fast-paced program, it felt as though we were truly experiencing this Vienna through its musical history without losing the opportunity to get a taste of its wider culture.
Congratulations to Lubov Berenson and her students, and to Alan Wasserman, on their performances! And George Borisov and Marina Genina, you put in so much work to create this wonderful program: congratulations! It was a truly beautiful and one-of-a-kind event! Bravo and Thank you! This year, the Golden Key Festival will be traveling to Vienna and Barcelona again. Best of luck in preparing for another successful musical travel experience!
