LESSON PLANS FOR SEAN CLARK – FEBRUARY 15, 2018
Class Policies – Washroom breaks are done BEFORE class. For this reason, I allow period 4 an extra couple of minutes to get to class. Anyone needing a break during class is asked to leave their phone on the desk so you can track that there is already a student out of class!
Seating Plan Binder is in the second drawer of the teacher desk in 209. Tabs are sorted by period.
Period 1 – 8:05 – 9:30 Grade 9 Academic Science Room 205
Reliable Students are Sophie Boehm-Edwards, Grace Smart
8:20 - 9:00 - Students can have the first 40 minutes of the scheduled class time to complete the following:
A - Proof read labs. Students are to trade labs with a partner. This should NOT be a partner that they worked on for the lab! Partner will use a pen that is different from the colour used to prepare the lab to indicate issues in the lab report and, where convenient, make suggestions for improvement. Proofreaders are looking for the following:
- Ensure that the lab does not contain any personal pronouns (I, we, they etc) Describe what happened in the lab using expressions like "The block was placed onto the triple beam balance"
- Ensure that the lab is written in the past tense
- Ensure that all parts of the lab are included
- Ensure that the procedure is clear and the proofreader is able to follow the steps in a logical, sequential manner.
B - Once the labs have been proofread, students should REVIEW suggestions with their editors to make improvements. Please don't just hand back the lab and walk away. Once this is done, proofreaders will sign the front of the lab to indicate that they have made suggestions.
C - Students should get a second edit of their lab. Hopefully in a different colour. Again, please review suggestions after with your editor.
D - If there is still time, students can complete their density worksheet problems, or use a device to make final edits to their labs.
