Wild Cheverly Photo Contest Rules

Eligibility. Everyone is eligible to enter the photo contest with the exception of the contest judges. There are two age categories: 14 and under, 15 and over.

Each entrant may submit up to 3 photographs.

There is no entry fee.

Your photos must not have been entered previously in any contest.

Subjects.

Photos must be taken within the boundaries of the Town of Cheverly.

Photos must be taken under natural conditions, and must not be retouched, altered, or otherwise manipulated.

Format.

Either color or black and white photos may be entered.

Minimum photo size is 5” x 7”; maximum photo size is 12” x 18”.

Photos must be framed and provided with wires or other hanging hardware.

Submitting your photos.

Bring your photos to the town office between Monday, May 11th and 5 PM, Friday, May 15th.

Attach a 3 x 5 card to the back of each frame showing

  • Your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, age category

  • Information about the subject of your photo. What does it portray (include the name of the plant, animal, or other subject)? Where was it taken (name of park, street, or other place)? On what date was it taken?

Judging will take place Friday, May 15th, at 5 PM.

Photos will be judged on composition, technical excellence, and subject: How well does the photo tell a visual story about the natural world of Cheverly?

Contest judges, all Cheverly residents, are Teresa Castracane, photographer and actor; Michael Callahan, Mayor of Cheverly; and Oliver Smith, award-winning nature photographer.

Prizes will be awarded in both age categories and in each of the subject categories. A Best in Show prize will also be awarded.

By entering the contest you affirm that your entries are entirely your own work.
