Bridestowe recorded a comprehensive victory away at Buckfastleigh, against a Plymouth CS & Roughborough side who are placed well above them in the table.

Winning the toss for only the second time of the year, the visitors bowled first on another wet pitch, and devastating early spells from the ever reliable Tom Fogerty (12-2-30-4) and left arm paceman Dave Binns (12-3-30-2) reduced the hosts to 24-5. Plymouth Captain Dave Bayliss then dug deep to play his way to 73 until he was smartly stumped by Mark Fogerty off Jutson in the closing overs. The hosts were able to accelerate in the closing overs but Lee Juston came back from an expensive first spell to take 3 late wickets, helping to restrict them to 145-9 off 44 overs.

In reply, Bridestowe got off to a shaky start, as the usually reliable Phil Woods edged behind for 9 in the third over with both opening bowlers utilising plenty of pace and bounce in the surface. Jack Hatton played confidently, surviving some difficult chances, to make a brisk 63 before he was bowled by the left arm spin of Bayliss. He was well backed up by all of the top order who played well around him. Bridestowe got home 5 wickets down in the 34th over, with Tom Fogerty hitting the winning runs fortuitously as he was dropped off the leading edge.

Next week is an important one for the club, with a T20 game at home against local rivals Okehampton A, followed by the Colin Kirby Cup final at Whitchurch against Calstock. The 1st XI are home to Countess Wear, 2nd XI away to table topping Plymouth CS & Rob and finally the annual village 7-a-side tournament at the Millaton Ground on Sunday.
