After a month without a game, the first team were finally back in action at home to Kilmington. It was a different looking Bridestowe team with James and the two Phil’s unavailable but there was the much anticipated return of Addy Griffiths.

Losing the toss we were, of course, put into bat. Jacko went out with Mark Fog and it was an eventful opening over to say the least. Jacko carved the first ball to the third man boundary but then played all around a straight ball and was back in the pavilion. Sam played his first ball around his ribs; the same cannot be said for his second. A ball just short of a length outside off-stump that kept low and cut in, an unlucky way to go. Mark was then bowled second ball at the other end and Briddy were reeling at 4-3 of 1.2. Tom and Ian then had a good partnership that calmed those in the pavilion. Ian then fell for a solid 22 and Tom was caught behind shortly after. The ball was moving around in the humid conditions and Lee put up a short stand with Addy before he was bowled. Neil joined Addy and although runs were hard to come by they saw off the opening bowlers. They were going well together before Addy was unfortunate to inside edge the ball and see it trickle on to his stumps. Butler came and went in his usual fashion before Jopling and Neil put on a partnership of around 8 overs. Dan and Neil then did the same taking us over the 100 mark before Dan was caught at point.

Defending 106, Bridestowe had a great start with Tom taking a wicket i his first and then second over leaving Kilminton 4-2 with 106 looking a long way off. Dan was swinging the ball from the other end and was unlucky not to take a wicket. However runs did come with their number four driving well and was beginning to take the game away from Bridestowe before Addy came up with a beauty to knock out his off-stump. He then took another lbw, and Kilmington needed 30 with 6 wickets in hand. The chances did come for Bridestowe with a catches dropped or just not going to hand. Sam came on and took a caught and bowled but it was too little too late for Briddy.

Good to see some sun and get a game in but a disappointing loss that puts our promotion hopes in doubt.
