May 18, 2012 - Kristen's Disneyland Presentation

Kristen had to do a passion project at school for the school districts expertise expo. She was to pick a subject that she was passionate about, and become an expert at it. Although she originally wanted to do her report on me & Bret, it wouldn't have really met the criteria for being interesting to other people. So I threw out some ideas and she chose Disneyland. And since there are so many aspects of Disneyland, I asked what she wanted to focus on, and she chose the beginning. So she learned about how Walt Disney thought of the idea, the year long construction and the opening day. We had a great time working together on it. When we were at Disneyland in May we got a list of all the opening day attractions and she took pictures of the attractions that are still there today. We found some pictures from the opening, and she put together a binder showcasing the opening day attractions. She put together a display board, although I did type the word strips because it would have been too much for her to write it all out. She made a Mickey for it and did it all by herself one Saturday morning before I had gotten up. That girl amazes me! I was at school when she did the presentation for her class. She talked for about 20 minutes presenting her research, and then opened it up for questions which went another 20 minutes. She did fantastic! I love my brilliant Disney loving girl!
