Crazy how much life can change in such a short time. We have been blessed with our sweet little Kara for two weeks now and I've practically forgotten what it was like without her. Kara's first outing was to the doctor at four days old. And her second outing was at one week to an Eagle Court of Honor. We kept her in the car seat the whole time and she did great, even though she was awake some of the time. We were lucky to have Grandma & Grandpa Gage here to help and then Grandma Dee & Grandpa Greg came for a few days. But last week we had to jump back into reality and figure things out all on our own. Kara has been to Costco and to Michael's (craft store) and slept the whole time. I took her for her second new born screening and she didn't make a peep when they poked her and squeezed the blood from her heel. Her umbilical cord came off yesterday (2 weeks old) so she got her first real bath and she seemed to enjoy it. Kristen was a huge help and took pictures. Kara really doesn't cry too much, but likes to be held, a lot. She seems to be of the mindset that if she's awake, she should be eating. Yesterday while watching conference she was on the every two hours feeding schedule. At night she usually goes three hours, sometimes four, and once she went six hours. I am looking forward to when the night feedings are fewer and we're both getting more sleep at night. But for now I am soaking up this cute little one and enjoying her being so little.
Kara's Photo Shoot (at 2 weeks)
My friend Vanessa offered to take some pictures of Kara. She is just shy of two weeks in these. I wanted her to be sleeping for the pictures so had kept her up before Vanessa came over, but she was just too alert most of the time. But she's still so dang cute!
