TI Classic AA Battery Pack Mod
A number of TI calculators - the Classic series - all used the BP1A battery pack. It held 3 rechargeable NiCad batteries. They lasted a few hours and took all night to recharge with the calculator plugged into a power supply.
The NiCads always eventually die, and TI doesn't sell the packs any more. Rather than live without their favorite TI calculator, some people rebuild the packs with 3 new NiCads. I don't.
Instead, I remodel the packs to use any 3 AA batteries. Then I can use regular Alkalines or modern Lion or NiMH that can be recharged in minutes in smart chargers. I never have to recharge anything in the calculator. If I run out of power I just switch in fresh batteries and go.

More Good News - BP1A Replicas!
People kept contacting me to say that they'd thrown away their dead BP1A packs, and to ask if I had any to sell. I kept on having to send them to eBay to look for a cheap "parts" calculator with a pack.
But now I've made a 3D model of the part of the case I need for remodeling! That adds the cost of printing ($15) to the remodeling charge ($37.50), for a total of $52.50.
So if you've tossed or lost your BP1A pack, contact me and I'll set you up with a replacement!
