Panasonic
I can't believe I've only got one Panasonic calculator - with as big a name as theirs, you'd think they'd have a larger presence.
But not really. Panasonic didn't make a lot of calculators, though the ones they did had some class.
"Panasonic" is the trade name the Japanese electronics giant Matsushita used in the West. Back home, they used "Pananc", and also "National".
This beautiful design, the JE-850 was released in 1972 as both Panasonic and Panac, with English and Japanese instruction on the reverse, respectively. It's quite big, more than a handful. Yet it came with a wrist strap! It is curvy and smooth, functional art. Simply perfect.
