IC417 and NGC1931 (the Spider and the Fly)
IC417 (on the right of the image) and NGC1931 (lower left corner) , also known as the Spider and Fly nebulae, respectively, are located in Auriga. The Spider is an emission nebula whereas the Fly is a reflection/emission nebula. The Hubble color palette was employed in this image, obtained through narrowband filters: Sulphur II (red), Hydrogen alpha (green) and Oxygen III (blue). Click for a higher resolution image
The images were obtained from my backyard observatory in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid suburbs, Spain) on December 2024. Light pollution is severe here (SQM 18,5)
Equipment: Vixen VC200L scope at f6,4. Omegon veTEC 571 camera with a ZWO filter wheel and Baader SII, Halpha and OIII filters. ASA DDM85 mount, unguided..
Imaging software: ASA Autoslew and Sequence.
Image data: multiple subexposures of 10 minutes each through each filter (99 SII, 91 OIII and 56 Halpha), in total 41 hours of exposure.
