The Pipe Nebula is a dark nebula in the Ophiucus constellation and it is a part of a larger dark nebula named the Dark Horse Nebula. It is composed of dust which obscures the Milky Way star clouds behind it. Several Barnard dark nebulae configure the Pipe shape: Barnard 59, 65,66,67 and 78.

The image was obtained last July 11th from Hortezuela de Ocen (Spain). An unmodified Canon 600D DSLR camera with a Samyang 135 mm lens at f2 was employed. A Vixen Polarie portable mini-equatorial mount on a photographic tripod was used to track the stars. Thirty subexposures, two minutes each, were integrated.
