Sunday Evening, 6/12

Hiked 10.2 miles after a late start at 3:15. Steve dropped me off at Long Mountain Wayside on highway 60 where two thru hikers from 2006 had set up trail magic with cold drinks, lots of cookies and other food. Now in my tent at mile 816, the lone camper at this campsite, relaxing listening to the wind and the last finale of the birds as the sunlight dies in the west. From "Higher Heaven" which is what Steve calls his river home, to the beauty of the woods. Hard to beat. Temperature pleasant for sleeping. No phone signal. Hope to do about 15 tomorrow.
