Yesterday I delivered a large order of Greeting Cards and Scriptural Word Art to an elderly friend of mine. Just before I left, she asked me if I had any thoughts for making a greeting card with a squirrel on it. I paused for barely a moment ... "I'm nuts about you, or I'm nuts for you --- sounds like something I could work with." She was just delighted! I scratched the phrase onto a scrap of paper before driving away. The very first chance I had, I started sketching words. The finalized phrase became "I Am Nuts Over You!" and I drew a squirrel hanging by its toes in an oak tree, reaching for an acorn on a branch below. When you turn it over, it looks like the squirrel is standing on the branch instead, reaching for an acorn over its head. Of course, I want to send her one of these -- She gave me the idea. This thumbnail image has been added to my Greeting Cards Page.

I was looking at a photo frame with these words on it a few days ago, and thought the expression would make a lovely greeting card. After quickly sketching up the words, I knew it would look even better after drawing it in the computer. After i had the letter shapes worked to my satisfaction, I spent a few minutes trying out different colors before deciding on one that I might call fuchsia. If you'd prefer, you can request a different color at no extra charge. This thumbnail image has also been added to my Greeting Cards Page. I will likely give the design more embellishment before listing it among the items on my Word Art Page.

In my frequent Bible reading, I often come upon a scripture that I hope to be able to turn into art. Sometimes my sketching doesn't bring about satisfactory results. However, when I re-visit the scriptural sketch, I will often find a better solution to my puzzle. In this instance -- John 3:16 -- I wanted the word LOVED to be my 'anchor,' but I had trouble getting the words to match up well. So I set the sketch aside for about a month. When I came back to it, I selected a slightly different acrostic match-up for the word LOVED and found that my new choice fit very well. This thumbnail image has been added to my Word Art Page, under the heading "Scriptural Word Art."- - - [End Insertion 2009-August-2] - - -

I have also added a new item to my product line: Ambigram Coin Banks. Photo coming soon. The banks are made with clean, recycled containers, such as plastic peanut butter jars and 'very large' blue cylindrical prescription bottles with snap-on lids, and decorated with printed labels bearing ambigrams of the four names of the most commonly used U.S. coins: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters. "You Can Help Save the Earth While Saving Your Money." At the moment there is a limited supply, so I will list a "Quantity In Stock" for these on the Word Art Page.

Reminder: The Renaissance Festival at Griswold Veterans Memorial Park in Jewett City, CT, is just two more Saturdays away. I made a new sign to put at my browsing table. When you look at it in a mirror, it says something similar but different. One view says "Have a Seat & Take a Look" while the other view says "Have a Look & Take a Seat." These are bilateral ambigrams of each other.

In other news: At one of my stops today, I showed my designs to an acquaintance who runs Josie's General Store and Einstein's Ice Cream Stand on Butts Bridge Road in Canterbury, CT. He is interested in having my ambigram gift bags, and perhaps greeting cards, to sell in his store. He and his wife invited me to set up my vendor booth at their upcoming Craft Fair on 2009-October-10. They said that last year's event was a huge success, and they can hardly wait for this one.

Mention having seen my website when you visit my booth at either of these events for $1 off your purchase.
