2010-June-23:

I thought I should post this before I forget to tell you: The next craft event is this coming Saturday, 2010-June-26, from 10 am to 3 pm at Hank's Dairy Bar on Route 12 (Norwich Road) in Plainfield, CT. I have included an interactive map in the calendar of events in case you need driving directions. This location is a popular spot for antique and classic car shows and local talent events. They have great seafood and burgers, the coleslaw is awesome, and of course, so is the ice cream. There is a playground area with swings and such for the kids... ok, the swings can also accommodate the grownups. :) I hope to see you there. And remember: mention having seen my website for $1 off your purchase at my booth.

In Word Art News:

I was inspired to draw another ambigram because of East Providence High School's announcement board. I was about to deliver the "Begin With The End In Mind" drawing that I was inspired to ambi-fy a few months ago, when I noticed a new "Habit of the Month" for June: "Reflect." This word describes a category of ambigrams that can be viewed in a mirror -- either "left-to-right and right-to-left" or "top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top" -- and read the same or a different word or phrase. So I decided to wait until I had two pieces of art to deliver. I chose to reflect the bottom half of the word as a mirror image of the top half so that it appears to be upon the surface of a lake. I set this Word Art within a "serene sunset scenery with swan" because I like a peaceful, quiet place to sit and think things over -- to reflect. I brought these to the school earlier this month and presented them to the principal, Janet Sheehan. She found the drawings quite intriguing, and I described how ambigrams "work." Then she introduced me to the art director -- who was also interested in seeing more -- and asked me to write up a few paragraphs about how the drawings came to be in the display case at the school. (That is where they will be when the new school year begins this September.)

I have completed computerizing my drawing of Proverbs 3:5,6, and included a thumbnail of it on my Word Art Page.

Have a Great Day,

Rebecca May
