Today is the first day of our long journey back home. When we first started thinking of making this trip back in October 2008, we talked about making it to AZ, but neither of us knew if we could really do it. But after 9 days and 1932 miles, we made it to our farthest destination and enjoyed (nearly) every minute of it. Around day 4, we started talking about loading the bike in a UHaul and driving it back so I could help drive and we would have a few more days to be tourists. But, after making it this far, the journey wouldn’t have felt complete that way, so we ride on!

To head back home, we’ll be taking a slightly different route - we’re going to head east through AZ, NM, TX, OK, then north via MO, IL. To exit Sedona, we had to go back north to Flagstaff, then headed east. We did a quick gas stop after 90 miles, and blasted through another 140 to take lunch and a nap in a dusty parking lot. Today ended at another Holiday Inn Express in Albuquerque, NM. After a long day on the road, we like to find dinner at the closest restaurant in walking distance, which for tonight will be Applebee’s.

Today's driving time 5 hours 07 minutes and 349 miles.

Total driving time 36 hours 24 minutes and 2310 miles.
