Thoughts on the 511 Tactical Triab 18" Grip Carry Holster

I have been a fan of the 511 Tactical Triab for about two years now and I've used it as my everyday carry item. For those of you who aren't familiar with this product, it is a belt clip holster. It is the top-selling holster on Gear4Gear.com and has garnered an excellent reputation.

There are two types of holsters, the top-tier clip holsters and the generic, low end belt clips. Some of my thoughts on the three different models that Gear4Gear carries are:

Top tier clips - These come in a variety of materials including silicone, carbon fiber, leather, nylon, elastomer, etc. They work well when you need to conceal the product on your body but don't want it sitting too low on your chest area. The weight is great on this type of holster and it is not heavy enough to be bulky or difficult to manage.

Generic and lower end clips - This is where you have to decide between leather, nylon, carbon fiber, and elastomer. These are all great choices and will all provide you with unique and comfortable results. Leather offers the most comfortable results and most importantly looks really good.

I think there are some options that could be improved upon. Here are my concerns with this product:

The holster has a bottom end that is a bit loose. When trying to draw the weapon from the holster, it has a tendency to slip out when it is worn tight but also releases too easily.

The general discomfort of the belt clip is something that makes me really want to be less than enthusiastic about buying this product. It doesn't take much movement when itis on my belt and I'm always trying to keep it on it. I really like the set of two-piece belt clips that Gear4Gear offers, but there's just something that doesn't feel right about this option.

Since it isn't cheap and not everybody is concerned with concealment, the mid-priced style can't be appreciated by many, so the general discomfort of the top end could be a problem. But overall, I think the holster is still very well worth it for me, so that's a little disappointing.

I don't like the way that the gun rests on the bottom end of the belt. The piece is just too short and there's nothing holding it in place and allowing it to stay on the belt rather than sitting there waiting for somebody to actually take the weapon out.

After several months of carrying this product I found myself getting really frustrated because of it, but I figured there must be some way to fix it. So I did some research on my own and came up with a few solutions that I was able to try. I gave them all a shot and they worked well and I never had any issues with the gun resting on the bottom end.

My other issue was that the combination of the firearm resting on the bottom and the proper belt style and length were not good. I would have preferred the gun to rest a little lower so that it was easier to wear concealed.

Overall, if you are a person who likes the look of the 511 Tactical Triab, this is the holster for you. If you like the durability of the belt clips and want to get your hands on a versatile holster that will give you comfort, you'll want to try the standard one and see how it feels.
