511 Tactical Performance Polos
Comparison of 511 Tactical Performance Polos to Other Polos
This review of the 511 Tactical Performance Polos will compare them to other polos for adults. We will also compare them to these polos by Nike and Lacoste. It's hard to make a conclusion about them.
The materials used in these polo shirts are cotton with Lycra for a softer feel. It seems that a cotton/Lycra combination does not have the same feel as leather. I think that some say that the cotton/Lycra can cause more "rubbing" off of the fabric, but I don't think that's true. I think we are being led to believe that the smoothness of the material is more important than the actual material itself.
They seem to be larger than the regular polos. I think this might be because they are made for adults and are not meant to be small or medium fits. They might fit like the flannel shirts that boys wear.
The leather comes with a gusseted collar. As a result of the collar I found myself having to put the shirt on with the collar up a lot. I like how it looked though.
The back collar is in a straight line with the a-line back collar. It seems to be more structured. This made it harder to read the polo when worn with slacks. The front also doesn't fit as well as the other polos because it is cut too short.
We will start with the two different brands of polo shirts. This comparison will include the 511 Tactical Performance Polos by 511 with a Nike Dri-FIT shirt in a different color. We will then compare them toa navy v-neck flannel shirt with a lacoste label. Then, the same brand of polo shirt with a Lacoste label. Lastly we will compare them to a gray flannel shirt.
The first comparison is between the five different styles of polo shirts. The Nike shirt is the lightest of the 511 shirts. They are smaller than the flannel shirts. It is slightly different from the Nike shirt and is only slightly lighter.
The Flannel Shirt and Lacoste shirts are about the same weight. They are not much heavier than the plain flannel shirt and a Lacoste shirt. They are both about the same weight as the plain Nike shirt. When you add all three shirts together, you get a light cotton blend shirt.
The Dri-FIT shirt has a number of features including an adjustable Velcro back collar. The collar has a lighter fabric. This added weight makes the shirts fit tighter when you sit down. This should result in a tighter fit while wearing them.
The cuffs on the shirt are made of nylon instead of leather. This was a nice feature because it keeps the cuffs and hoods of the shirt clean when they are pulled down. The collar tab on the flannel shirt are made of leather. The collar tab on the Nike shirt is made of nylon.
The back collar on the Nike shirt has an "a-line back collar". The a-line line on this collar allows it to slope back. If you pull it down, it does not dig into your back. This is a feature that I would like to see on polo shirts. The a-line back collar makes it easier to have a straight back while wearing the polo shirt. It seems that this collar design is only found on polo shirts, but the quality of this one is better than what the others offer. and it's just not as stiff as the other ones.
