The soccer club Deportivo Juventus Pericón was losing against Pequeño San Juan, one of the best teams in the well-known tournament organized by the municipality of Tecoanapa. It was just a few minutes before the end of the game when Gerardo, with an almost artistic touch, sent the ball to the legs of his team-mate Alexander Mora Venancio. Both were running and without hesitation, Alexander kicked the ball toward the upper right corner of the goal, the place where the goalkeeper could not possibly reach, remembered with some effort Mario Salomé Mora, cousin of Alexander and right full-back defender of Juventus Pericón.

Those events took place two years ago, but Mario keeps those memories. Today in May, as we are talking under the shade of a huge tree next at his house, he insists that play was followed by penalties and shortly after the club was promoted to the liguilla.

When we talk about Juventus Pericón of course, we are not talking about the glorious Italian Juventus of Turín, Italy; however, during the time Alexander was active as a player we had a friendship and closeness that would have been the envy of the Italian professionals. Together went to parties, jogged in twos and threes and chatted about dreams and anguish.

The team suffered the loss of a player and a friend, -affirmed Salomé. Still, we are playing, but much less. Nothing is the same.

Relatives and friends are saying that Alexander wished to be a teacher because of his commitment to helping, but his main dream forever has been to play soccer. He wanted very badly to play for the Pumas of the UNAM.

Alexander was 19 years old when he came to the school Normal Rural Isidro Burgos. He took and passed the tests and was given a small room shared with others.

After a little bit more than a month at school he returned for a visit to El Pericón, his family and soccer friends; he also went dancing to Tecoanapa during a patriotic holiday. During this period of time, one of his friends from soccer remembers how happy he was to see friends and even there are photos of him with the rest of the team wearing the colors of Juventus Pericón. Those are the last images of Alexander before he was disappeared September 26 of 2014 (see below).

El Deportivo Juventus Pericón perdía contra Pequeño San Juan, uno de los mejores equipos del torneo de futbol celebrado en la cabecera municipal de Tecoanapa. Faltaban unos minutos para que finalizara el partido y Gerardo tocó con arte el balón para acercarlo a las piernas de su compañero Alexander Mora Venancio. Iban corriendo, y a como venía el balón Alexander le pegó y entró por el lado superior derecho de la portería, justo donde el arquero no podía alcanzarlo –recuerda con tropiezos Mario Salomé Mora, primo de Alexander y defensa lateral derecho del Juventus Pericón.

De eso ya han pasado dos años pero el jovencito mantiene fresco el recuerdo. Este día de mayo, mientras conversa bajo la sombra de un enorme árbol fresco enraizado a las afueras de su vivienda, asegura que esa jugada los condujo a penales y más tarde les dio el pase a la liguilla.

Cuando se habla del Juventus Pericón hay que ser claros: no se acerca ni por asomo al glorioso italiano Juventus de Turín, pero mientras Alexander participó activamente en el equipo se conservó una hermandad y camaradería que podía ser la envidia de los profesionales itálicos. Iban en montones a las fiestas, trotaban en dúos y tríos, charlaban de sus ilusiones y de sus angustias.

El equipo sufrió la pérdida de un compañero y amigo –sentencia Salomé –Todavía vamos a jugar, pero menos. Ya no es igual.

Según dicen familiares y amigos, Alexander desea ser maestro por una vocación de ayuda, pero su más grande ilusión, desde siempre, ha sido el futbol. Anhela jugar con los Pumas de la UNAM.

Con apenas 19 años cumplidos acudió a la Normal Rural Isidro Burgos, aprobó sus exámenes y le fue asignado un pequeño dormitorio que debía compartir con otros compañeros.

Tras más de un mes escolar Alexander viajó con ansias a El Pericón, se reencontró con su familia y amigos del futbol y acudió a los bailes organizados en Tecoanapa para festejar a la patria. En esas fechas, uno de sus compañeros de futbol, recuerda que estaban tan alegres con el reencuentro que se tomaron fotografías con el uniforme del Juventus Pericón. Esas fueron las últimas imágenes de Alexander antes de su desaparición del 26 de septiembre de 2014.
