"Remember the past with gratitude. Live the present with enthusiasm. Look forward to the future with confidence." - Saint John Paul II
Dear family and friends of Siena,
As we enter this season of thanksgiving, I want to express my deep gratitude for each of you. This month’s newsletter highlights the many ways our students are growing in faith, learning, and service—from joyful fall activities and meaningful faith based retreats to moments of prayer and visits with special friends and family members. Each of these experiences reflects the strength of our mission and the dedication of our Siena Catholic Schools community.
Preparing for Thanksgiving, let us continue to pray for each other and embrace the spirit of gratitude and kindness Christ calls us to live out daily. Thank you for being a vital part of the Siena family. May God’s blessings and graces shower you and your loved ones now and always.
With gratitude,
Dr. Sue
President, Siena Catholic Schools
P.S. As always, follow Siena on Facebook and get an inside view of our schools through "Dr. Sue's View." Videos are frequently uploaded that illustrate the best our schools have to offer.
Middle Schoolers at St. Rita took advantage of the crisp leaves, Fall air, and bright sunshine earlier this month. Their assignment was to pretend they were little ones again and enjoy the leaves.
The students at St. Sebastian STEM Academy participated in some fun fall STEM Activities! Each grade level learned through different activities such as making spider webs, magnetic ghosts, geo pumpkins, and more!
7th graders and their K5 buddies at St. Joe participated in a “Chuckin’ Pumpkin” activity. This STEM activity included making craft stick catapults. Afterwards, there were several stations set up to chuck the (candy) pumpkin in various obstacles.
The community at JPIIA went all out decorating their trunks for families to visit. Students had so much fun seeing each other in costume and stopping at each candy station.
St Joe’s 7th grade girls volleyball team powered their way through the South Shore Parochial League Tournament to become league champions. Congratulations girls!
Siena was able to donate over 60 refurbished Chromebooks to HALO, and organization that provides a pathway to self‐sufficiency and housing stability for those experiencing homelessness in Racine County. These Chromebooks will help provide access to resources such as, online banking, job applications, and resume writing. Thank you to Tony Commodore for coordinating this!
In recent weeks, JPIIA and St. Sebastian both received renovations to their playgrounds. Both were procured and installed by generous volunteers and donations to each school.
OLOGA 6th grader made a special field trip to the Jewish Holocaust Museum in Illinois. While there, they had the opportunity to take a museum tour, do an anti-semitism workshop, and listen to the story of how our speaker’s Mom escaped the Holocaust.
For their final term project, St. Catherine's High School students spent a week designing and building a closed ecosystem capable of supporting a goldfish and a live plant. This project explores the relationships between land and aquatic habitats. It was created by assembling a bottle with different chambers of soil, water, and plants.
To celebrate the month of the Rosary, JPIIA middle school students created a life sized rosary and led the school community in prayer.
In recent weeks, JPIIA had two events for their special guests: Grandparents Day and Donuts with Dad. The grandparents or special guests came for breakfast and Mass. It was a great morning filled with love. Additionally, there was a great turn out for Donuts with Dads. Guests spent the morning shadowing their students and seeing all the fabulous things happening at JPIIA!
Not to be outdone, OLOGA also took a day to honor their "Very Important People." Participants attended Mass and had opportunities to interact with their students with a book fair and refreshments.
Cadet Jakari Oliver, former student at OLOGA and St. Catherine's, received the "Outstanding Citizen Award" from the City of Racine Fire Department for "an unselfish act in rendering aid to a fellow citizen." We are so proud of you Jakari!
In other exciting alumni news, St. Catherine's graduate Willow Newell was crowned Miss Racine in early November. Congratulations Willow!
