“Never miss an opportunity to do good.” –– St. Francis de Sales
Dear Siena Families and Friends,
Happy New Year! As we begin this new year, I want to thank you for your continued support of Siena Catholic Schools of Racine. Our community is filled with joy, generosity, and growth.
Our students have been actively engaged in their academics, finding fun and meaningful ways to connect what they learn to the real world. We are also proud of their constant pursuit of service and the dedication of our teachers and staff. At Siena, faith is at the heart of everything we do. Through prayer, worship, and daily interactions, our students are growing in their relationship with Christ and learning to live out Christian virtues in meaningful ways.
We are especially excited for Catholic Schools Week next week, a time to celebrate the unique value of Catholic education. This week offers a wonderful opportunity to highlight our students’ accomplishments, showcase our faith-based curriculum, and welcome prospective families to our community. I encourage you to attend our open houses and experience firsthand the Christ-centered education and strong sense of community that Siena offers. You can find the open house times here.
Thank you for your partnership and commitment to our mission. Wishing you all a blessed and joyful new year!
God Bless,
Dr. Sue
P.S. As always, follow Siena on Facebook and get an inside view of our schools through "Dr. Sue's View." Videos are frequently uploaded that illustrate the best our schools have to offer.
Siena follows Racine Unified for weather-related school and building closures. Once RUSD communicates a closure to Siena Leadership, school principals will be informed and communication will go home via call, text, and email, as well as posted on social media. We will do our best to make announcements in a timely manner. Here is the full document.
Hello, my name is Felix Guereca, and I am proud to be an alumnus of St. Catherine's High School! Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity at Gateway Technical College, working toward a future in IT and technology. As a student at St. Cat's, I developed a strong foundation for both my academic and personal growth. One of my favorite memories was taking my first computer science class, which sparked my interest in technology and set me on my current career path. The supportive environment and high standards at St. Cat's taught me the value of hard work and perseverance, lessons I carry with me to this day.
Now, as the Helpdesk Technician at St. Cat's, I enjoy being part of the Angel family once again. My favorite part of this role is the opportunity to assist students and staff with their technology needs, ensuring everyone has the tools they need to succeed. It’s incredibly fulfilling to give back to a community that had such a positive impact on my life. Thank you for letting me share a bit about my journey, and I look forward to continuing to serve and grow within the St. Catherine's community!
The After School Learning Lab kicked off its first week with math tutoring and science labs. Our first lab was creating slime, of course, but this was Chemistry by trial and error! Students tested different ways to make slime using borax or glue or saline solution or corn starch. It was truly the scientific method at work. Next up is 3D printing!
Fourth grade was studying the Middle Ages, and at the end of the unit, the students made rose windows, wrote Bible quotes with a quill, and built catapults to shoot balls of paper at a castle. These were all based on things the students learned about life in the Middle Ages.
Students have begun learning the keyboard in Music class. Keep practicing!
